BRUCE HUBER
Founder and Managing Partner

Founder and Managing Partner Bruce Huber has thirty years’ experience in investment banking across Europe, North America and Asia working with companies and investors in the energy, energy infrastructure, technology and communications sectors.

Prior to founding Alexa Capital, he was Global Head of Cleantech Investment Banking for Jefferies & Co. where he led the global industry group operating from offices in Frankfurt, London, New York, San Francisco, Mumbai and Shanghai.

While at Jefferies, he helped found and build the #1 global industry and investor conference platform in the new energy sector. He was also on the Board of Directors of Jefferies International, Chairman of European Technology Investment Banking and a senior member of various global risk management committees, including the Equity Commitment Committee, the Fairness Opinion Committee and the M&A Review Committee.

Mr. Huber has provided investment banking services to sectors undergoing transformation and regulatory change, including energy and mobile telecoms deregulation in the 1980s, telecoms and technology in the 1990s and early 2000s and new energy over the past decade. He has advised companies and investors across energy infrastructure, IT, telecoms and wireless technology, semiconductors/electronics, renewable energy and sustainable technologies.

Bruce Huber joined Jefferies in 2003 through its acquisition of Broadview International, the global technology-specialist investment bank, where he was a General Partner and the Managing Partner/CEO of Europe. He joined Broadview in 1995 from Barclays Investment Banking Division, where he worked both in London and Frankfurt. From 1984 to 1990 he was with Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette Investment Banking in New York in project finance and subsequently in TMT and prior to that worked in the energy project finance team at Warburg Paribas Becker.

Mr. Huber has a diverse range of transaction experience ranging from IPOs, follow-on’s, convertible bonds, high yield issues, public and private M&A, fairness opinions, leveraged recapitalizations, project finance and private placements. He graduated with a BSc Engineering from Princeton University.

GERARD REID
Founder

Gerard Reid has over two decades’ experience in equity research and fund management. He is also a leading energy expert as well as lecturer, author and monthly columnist for Biz Energy Today, the German energy industry publication. Prior to founding Alexa Capital, he was Managing Director and Head of European Cleantech Research at Jefferies & Co.

Before joining Jefferies Mr. Reid managed a renewable energy fund. Prior to this he was Head of Research at First Berlin where he expanded the equity research operation to cover 50 companies. Gerard Reid has broad relationships across the institutional and private investor communities as well as amongst government policy makers, utilities and technology providers to the energy area. He has developed a reputation as a leading global expert in renewable energy and the wider energy space through his work in the wind, solar, biofuels, natural gas, utility and European industrials sectors.

JAMES ADAMS
Partner

James Adams has two decades of conventional and alternative energy investment banking and infrastructure investment experience across EMEA and Asia with Lehman Brothers and Man Group.

Mr. Adams has completed transactions with a value of more than $20 billion providing M&A, capital market, buyout, asset transaction, strategic and regulatory advice to state-owned, multinational and mid-cap energy companies. He has worked on landmark cross border utility sector transactions and has considerable experience of regulated and deregulated markets that extends to the telecom sector where he financed a high growth pan-European telecom services provider.

After Lehman Brothers James founded a $600 million alternative energy infrastructure fund that was acquired by Man Group where he was a key man and on the investment committee. In addition to investment origination and transaction execution he also undertook capital raising with the placement teams.

James has innovated solar sector transactions combining investment grade power consumers with leading global renewable energy developers and institutional pension investors and has led M&A transactions in the European market representing the interests of large multi-nationals, growth companies and private investors.

He graduated with a BA in Philosophy from London University.
